Great Value Entry to IEMs: KZ AS16 Pro X Review - strongzone

I finally decided to dive into the world of higher-fidelity in-ear monitors and picked up the KZ AS16 Pro X In Ear Earphone 8 Balanced Armature Headset Sport Noise Cancelling Game Headphone with Detachable Audio Cable. I was looking for something that offered a significant step up from standard earbuds without completely breaking the bank, and these seemed to fit the bill perfectly, especially with the promise of 8 balanced armatures per side.

Right out of the box, I was very pleased with the overall presentation, though I must admit the delivery took longer than I initially expected, taking about three weeks via regular mail, which is something to keep in mind. Once I got them hooked up, the volume potential is definitely there; plenty of juice to be had. For general listening, I’ve found the clarity to be quite decent, and other buyers seem to feel similarly, calling it a great way to enter the in-ear world.

While I wouldn't call them the absolute most comfortable earbuds I’ve ever worn, they were fine for a couple of hours at a time, which suits my typical usage.

What really impressed me about this product, particularly given the price point, is the sound staging from those 8 bars per unit. The base response is quite strong, which gives music a nice punch. Although I'm relatively new to serious audio gear, I’ve heard some say the sound is slightly muffled compared to other models, but personally, I find the overall performance excellent for what you pay.

The inclusion of a detachable audio cable is another fantastic feature that adds to the longevity and flexibility of this headset.

If you are curious about getting into better quality audio or need a solid set of noise-cancelling earphones for gaming or sports without spending hundreds, the KZ AS16 Pro X is an outstanding entry point. It seems to be the best from KZ according to some longtime users, and I certainly see why they are so highly rated.

Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase. For the feature set and the sound quality you receive, the price is very reasonable. I’d strongly recommend grabbing the KZ AS16 Pro X if you’re looking for excellent value.
